Which brands of stock net are compatible with Fetra posts?

A wide range of brands are compatible with Fetra posts. You can find a comprehensive list of compatible nets listed alongside each type of post on our website.

Can I use my existing hand post rammer for Fetra posts?

Hand post rammers will work effectively with Fetra posts. We recommend using a Fetra post protector to safeguard the top of the post against any potential damage. Alternatively, if you prefer not to use a post protector, you can rely on a Fetra hand post rammer, which is specially designed to work seamlessly without the need for additional protection measures.

Is there a tool to prevent the post twisting as it is being hit into the ground?

Our experience has shown that attempting to prevent twisting during installation can sometimes create installation issue. Instead, we recommend using the Fetra twister tool which is designed specifically to straighten any twisted posts after they have been inserted. This method ensures optimal post alignment without the risk of unintended complications during installation.

I have put the anchor post in but he strut is a bit too long to fit into the slot on top, what happens now?

Please be reassured to know that you can try adjusting by gently pushing the strainer away from the anchor post to create space. Alternatively, continue knocking the anchor post down into the ground until the strut fits. If necessary, you may need to remove some soil if the anchor post goes below ground level to accommodate the strut properly.

Can I wire the anchor post back to the strainer to enhance its stability?

Yes, it’s possible to wire the anchor post back to the strainer. Before you insert the strainer post, it’s essential to bend the anti-lift tabs out approximately 20mm. This precaution is important because the wire restraint can exert an upward force on the strainer post, potentially causing it to lift, especially in very soft ground conditions. For optimal results in soft ground, we recommend using an XL anchor post or, even better, a box strainer. These options provide enhanced stability and minimise the risk of any unintended movement.

Can I use a machine mounted post knocker for intermediate posts?

Yes, this is typically the preferred method and often doesn’t require a post protector. It’s advisable to opt for multiple lighter taps instead of hitting hard, especially in stony or brashy ground conditions. In instances where the machine starts to bend the post, a Fetra hand post rammer can usually finish the job by taking care of the last few inches, ensuring a secure and properly installed post.

I have damaged a post and need to lift it out, is there some way of hooking onto the post?

Simply drill a hole sideways through the post, then insert a round bar through the hole to create a sturdy hooking point for your strap. This method provides a reliable way to lift the post out safely and efficiently.

How do I keep the net and line wires in the right place whilst I strain them up?

To maintain proper alignment, the strainer posts feature pre-drilled holes at the bottom, center, and top of the net, as well as for the two line wires at the top. After tying off the wires, use self-drilling screws to secure them in position, ensuring they remain firmly in place throughout the straining process.

Can I buy coloured posts?

Yes, our powder coat posts and strainers are available in any RAL colour you require.

I have a non-standard fence height, do you offer bespoke lengths, and what is the minimum quantity for this?

We provide posts in custom lengths to suit your specific needs, with no minimum quantity required. Lead times may vary depending on the time of year but can be as short as 4 weeks, ensuring you get the tailored solution you need without unnecessary delays.

The net I want to use doesn’t fit your clip spacings, do you offer bespoke spacings on the posts?

We can supply the posts with any wire spacing you require, ensuring a perfect fit for your net. Please note that the spacing cannot be less than 55mm between wires. Our lead times may vary throughout the year but can be as short as 4 weeks, allowing you to get the customised solution you need in a timely manner.
